What is DOPA?
DOPA is the De Pere Orchestra Parents Association. The purpose of this association shall be to promote interest in orchestra music, to provide support and backing for the De Pere Orchestra Department, to raise money for scholarships, performances, and tours, and to assist with projects in cooperation with the school Music Department and the Administration. Parents, guardians, and friends of the De Pere Orchestra Department shall make up the membership. (from DOPA Constitution, Article III - Membership)
DOPA is the orchestra booster club. We raise funds and organize volunteers to support the grades 4-12 De Pere Orchestra program. Funds raised
are used for:

DOPA is the orchestra booster club. We raise funds and organize volunteers to support the grades 4-12 De Pere Orchestra program. Funds raised
are used for:
- Scholarships: for music studies in college, summer music camps, Wisconsin State Honors Orchestras, youth orchestras, private music lessons, and instrument rental, purchase, and repairs. On average, DOPA has awarded $1,000 in scholarships every year.
- Classroom Enrichment: workshops and clinicians, symphony concert tickets, and field trips.
- Performances and Competitions: accompanist fees, Solo & Ensemble Competition costs, and refreshments.
- Classroom Needs: instrument purchase and maintenance, medals, and supplies. DOPA has purchased 5 basses, 10 cellos, and 9 violins for the De Pere schools along with cases, bows, strings, and storage racks. DOPA has also helped buy a grand piano ($3,000) for the high school music department and a sound system for the orchestra room ($4,800).
- Donations: Donations in any amount are always appreciated and are tax deductible. DOPA is a classified as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Volunteer Opportunities:- Scholarship Committee: Help will be needed for scholarship application review in April of 2016.
- Board Members and chairpersons are needed for the 2015-2016 school year: Secretary and fundraising and scholarship chairs.
